By the end of the year, a Taiwanese chipmaker MediaTek is on to launch the first-ever 4nm chips. The company had it during its earnings call today. The vice president of the company has announced that the 4nm chips of the company would target the flagship smartphone segment, which is priced more than 4000 Yuan.
According to Ma, China may be the primary target for the chipset, although he noted that Chinese industries that partner with MediaTek would also export to another market later on. That also includes companies such as Xiaomi, Vivo, Oppo. These companies usually work with MediaTek for their devices. All of these companies are amongst the top 5 smartphone makers in India. The most famous and most purchased phones in India are of Xiaomi.
Advantages of 4nm Chips
The 4nm chips of the MediaTek will be made with the utilization of Taiwan Semiconductor Company’s 4nm process technology. The company’s key competitor in the foundry business, Samsung, is also pushing forward with this technology. Reports have indicated that the American chip giant Qualcomm Will use the 4nm chip of the Samsung technology for the next flagship of the Snapdragon 895 chip the next year. The current flagship of the company, the Snapdragon 888, uses the 5nm process technology of Qualcomm.
Features of 4nm Chips
The advancement of the technology process will lead to enhancements in the speed and efficiency of processors. The new chip of the MediaTek will also be eligible with 5G, which is less or more a foregone conclusion for any new mobile chip that has been launched. Another tech giant, Apple, is also set to use a 4nm chip on the iPhone by 2022.
Along with the 4nm chip, the company also announced the Kompanio 1300T chip that uses the 6nm process technology. This product will enhance the overall performance of mobile devices.
It will come in small quantities in 2021 as it is still in the testing process. The reason for this is to check for issues.
The Density 2000 CPU will overtake the Snapdragon 888 or can be better with better power consumption. The flagship chip will provide a better and comprehensive experience to the users.
